Advantages to using OSB
OSB is more affordable than other regular hardwoods used for building, and even plywood.
OSB has a much stronger structural integrity than plywood.
OSB is made to be consistent and will not have the holes and knots that in plywood.
OSB is available in various sizes.
Disadvantages to using OSB
Disadvantages to using OSB
Despite its usefulness and versatility, plywood does have some flaws:
OSB has an unfinished look and is difficult to clean.
OSB can be difficult to paint. Be sure to use a primer and oil-based paint if you go in that direction.
OSB is more prone to swelling than plywood. Make sure to waterproof newly expsode sections.
OSB is usually made with formaldehyde, a very poisonous chemical that you generally don’t want to be around.
